This document epitomizes Sarah Stanton’s determination to make 139 TGR the site for the new fire station and her hostility to the  proper concerns of the HDC commissioners. Her willfulness is obvious. The commissioners were unanimous in finding the Bedford Motel preferable to the Great Road site — for a number of good reasons. But her words are harsh and contemptuous of their input.

If the owners of the motel had been approached and agreed to sell, it would have been an easy case to make at Town Meeting and a new station would likely be operational today — one that was not subject to all the drawbacks of the current site. The damage is incalculable. The hubris is appalling. And the idea of sweeping it all under the rug and rewarding the abuse of power is disgusting.

The other information to be gleaned from this document is that (just as Bill Moonan shared in his 11/14/22 STM comments) the Select Board commissioners followed her lead. Therefore, her objections to the Bedford Motel, were never discussed or vetted by the public.
